Learn More About The Talia Seidman Foundation
The Talia Seidman Foundation was founded in 2001 by Ron and Andrea Seidman. Ron and Andrea lost their daughter, Talia, to brain cancer when she was seven years old. As professional educators and owners of Early Childhood Education schools in the Bucks county area, Ron and Andrea were deeply affected when Talia grew too ill to continue attending school. Throughout her illness, Talia’s greatest joy was being able to visit with her friends and teachers at school. However, once she grew too weak to go to school, Talia felt isolated and lonely.
In order to keep Talia’s spirits up, her parents brought education to her hospital room. The doctors were amazed at how her continuing education helped with Talia’s self-esteem. It created a distraction from the medical processes that Talia was subjected to daily. Ron and Andrea began to realize that education, with its social interaction and intellectual stimulation, is a key component of a child’s life.
It is from this experience that The Talia Seidman Foundation was created. It is the hope of Ron and Andrea that when a cancer diagnosed child is hospitalized, they are able to stay connected with their teacher and classmates. When a child is placed into hospital care, their life becomes void of normalcy and filled with needles, doctors and drugs. Through The Talia Seidman Foundation, homebound children use state-of-the-art video and web-conferencing technology so that they can “attend” classes daily.
100 percent of all funds donated to this 501(c)3 public charity is put towards the cost of equipment and services that this foundation requires. Since 2001, The Talia Foundation has helped children in states such as Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York, North Carolina and Florida without costing the parents, school or school districts even $1. The Talia Seidman Foundation works toward the goal that one day all of these sick children will have the opportunity to continue their classroom education. The foundation also offers full technical support to both the child’s school and home.
